There have been four Sudden Impact cars since Ray first purchased the 1967 Camaro back in 1984. It received it's name as Sudden Impact before the 1985 season. Ray raced the Camaro with a Small Block Chevrolet until 1988, when after much carnage, he decided to go with a Big Block Chevy for motivation. In 1992, the car was back halved by Bob Laflamme, and Ray went on to claim his first Top ET Points Championship in 1993. Mike began his racing career at the wheel of the 1967 Camaro in 1995, racing it up until the 1998 season and finishing a best of 4th place in New England Dragway Top ET points. Brian has also started his racing career in the Camaro, starting in 1998 and still driving the car to this day. The 1967 Camaro was painted before the 1999 season, after receiving some damage in a pit area accident at the Bracket Finals in Norwalk, Ohio late in the 1998 season.
For the 1994 season, Ray purchased a 1987 Pontiac Firebird from Mike Marion. This car would be known as Sudden Impact II, and carried Ray to many victories, including another Top ET Track championship in 1998. Ray went as fast as 8.61 seconds at 155 MPH in the Pontiac, and sold the car in 1999.
Mike purchased the Sudden Impact III 1967 Nova in 1997 from Ralph Leo. This car used to also belong to Scott Hall, and was called "Bankrupt." As soon as Mike bought the car, they put the stocker motor in to let Brian get his feet wet. Mike also ran the car winning 5 Friday night gambler's races in a row. In 1998, Mike turned the 1967 Camaro over to Brian, and put his own motor in the Nova. Mike raced the car during the 1998, 1999, and 2000 season, wheeling the car to many victories. He sold the car before the 2001 season.
Sudden Impact IV is the family's pride and joy. The car is a 2000 Chevy Camaro, built by Dan Page Race Cars in Hampstead, New Hampshire. The car was on the track for the second week of April in 2000, and enjoyed a full season of shaking the bugs out of the car. The car received "Best Appearing Car" at the 2000 NHRA FMDRS event at Lebanon Valley Dragway. It was also chosen as "Best Appearing Car" and "Best Engineered Car" in the 2000 Dan Page Race Cars Quick Rod Series. |
